1990s Galliano Christian Dior Floral Jersey and Lace Slip Dress NWT at 1990s Galliano Christian Dior Floral Jersey and Lace Slip Dress NWT at 1990s Galliano Christian Dior Floral Jersey and Lace Slip Dress NWT at Late 1990 Early 2000s Christian Dior Slip Gown at 1stDibs. Amazing, amazing amazing entirely cut on the bias slip gown that you instantly identify without even having to think about it as a dress made during Galliano's period at Dior. Regardless of his recent downfall and appalling behavior he was at one time a pivotal designer in recent fashion history and was lauded with awards and honors based on his ability to cut a dress including the British Designer of the Year in 1987, 1994 and 1995. In 1997, he shared the award with Alexander McQueen, his successor at Givenchy. This gown certainly shows his ability to cut! Feather light crepe chiffon is entirely cut on the bias in an almost spiral fashion. Curved and angled seaming create his signature shaping to the body. The bodice drapes in a soft cowl and the entire dress is suspended by two delicate straps. Contracting fabric is inset down the sides and as a wide sweeping panel hear the hem to give it an asymmetrical train feel like a ballgown completely modernized! It closes with a tightly spaces series of fabric covered buttons down one side adding an element of couture. The act of having to do these up one by one to wear the dress makes the wearer feel transported into a world of glamor! Excellent, appears unworn condition. Hand written label inside. Unlined and closes down one side with a series of tiny, tightly spaced, fabric covered buttons and loops. Handwritten inner tag. Note that it is entirely cut on the bias so will adapt to a range of sizes. The length does come up some when on as well. Bust: 16 18" flat across from side seam to side seam Waist: 12 15" flat across from side seam to side seam Hips: 17 20" flat across from side seam to side seam Length: 65" from shoulder to hem Modern Sizing Equivalent: XS SML Item# DD1358 Photographed for Factice Magazine, Autumn 2014 by Peter Tamlin.
