1934 Omega Caliber T17 Rectangular Watch. Beautifully Gem 1939 Omega 'tank' Style T17 Wristwatch 1939 Omega Cal.33.3 Monopusher Flyback Chronograph c.1939 Omega Marine Standard CK3635 with T17 Movement in Art Deco. This Watch Omega's famous caliber T17 sits in a pod style clip sealed rectangular stainless steel case. This model 3635 in stainless steel has the most attractive patina to the dial which has aged to a very unique bronze which seems to change colour and tone in different light. The dial also has the rarer all Arabic painted numerals and open hands. One of Omega watch companies Early attempts to moisture proof a 4 sided case. The 'Marine' Range was a ground breaking innovative design from the 1930s. This is the second Generation of the Marine, The first sliding case version was introduced in the early 30s. The world's first commercially available divers' watch (CK679) was introduced by OMEGA in 1932. Named the Marine, it utilised an ingenious, patented double case sealed with cork to keep water and the elements away from the heart of the watch. Taking the innovation further, OMEGA also introduced an adjustable clasp with a divers' extension so that wearers could fit the watch comfortably to their own wrist. The OMEGA Marine became an instant success and helped to make a very dangerous profession a lot safer. For many diving pioneers, it was the watch of choice. Going deeper than any watch before, it was successfully tested in Lake Geneva not far from OMEGA's headquarters at a depth of 73 metres. Even more stringent laboratory tests were carried out five years later and found the watch to be completely waterproof to a depth of 135 metres. We've paired the watch on a period, vintage Bonklip style, stainless steel bracelet with an unusual clasp system. A leather of choice can also be supplied . On the case back is the Text ' waterproof and the serial number. PLEASE DO NOT consider this very rare and collected piece as water proof now. CLICK HERE FOR A SHORT PRODUCT VIDEO. Extra Points Founded by Louis Brandt in 1848, Omega started out as La Generale Watch Co., an unassuming, but international business. It wasn't until 1885, when the company had been taken over by Louis' sons, that the first mass produced caliber, the Labrador, was released. By 1903, the company had renamed itself Omega and only two years later were they the official timekeepers at many sporting events across Switzerland. Omega stepped onto an international stage in 1932 as the official timekeepers at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, the first of over 20 Olympic Games. Omega were one of the 12 companies, now known as the Dirty Dozen, commissioned to produce watches for the British Military during the Second World War. One of Omega's most iconic watches, the Seamaster, was introduced in 1948 to celebrate their 100th anniversary. Over 70 years later, it is still one of Omega's best selling watches. Omega made headlines in 1962 when Wally Schirra wore the Speedmaster as part of NASA's first crewed spaceflight programme, making the Speedmaster the first watch to enter space. It was only a few years before the Speedmaster became the official chronograph for the American space missions and was worn by Buzz Aldrin as well as the Apollo 13 crew. Omega are still involved with NASA and have been instrumental in creating vital pieces of equipment for space exploration. Omega's reputation continued to soar in the 1990s with Omega Seamaster worn by Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. As well as post 1995 James Bonds, Omega has been worn by the likes of Elvis Presley, John F. Kennedy, Prince William, Rory McIlroy, Ringo Starr, Michael Phelps, Cindy Crawford and George Clooney. For a watch of this age, we would recommend that it is considered for occasional use, once or twice a week. This is largely because watches of this age weren't built to deal with modern life. Although the fully serviced omega t17 caliber is running strongly and its case is built like a tank They do not have shock absorption which was later introduced in the 1950s and can be prone to magnetism, Please do try and keep the watch away from magnets such as computers, phones, speakers etc. This can all be dealt with by us but just a heads up. This is a Rare opportunity to own a piece of omega history and a real collectable. This watch has been fully serviced in our on site workshop and comes with a 12 month, non waterproof service cover. What we think We love this watch and are proud to have revived such a stunning piece of design and History making it available for the next generation. We like to be as transparent as possible with what our watches have gone through and this particular Rare Marine model has original character which you cannot compare, and we are happy to present quality craftsmanship that means these timepieces get many more years of use!
