Professional Profile

Dr Alam qualified with Honours from Guys’, St Thomas’ and King’s Hospital in London in 2000. She underwent GP training in Suffolk and then West Essex. She qualified as a GP with Honours in her MRCGP in 2007. Since then she has been working in the Redbridge, West Essex and Waltham Abbey locality as a sessional GP.

Dr Alam has a keen interest in Women’s Health and aims to provide tailored, sensitive health care and screening. She also has an interest in Mental Health with varied approaches to problem solving based therapies including CBT. Child Health is also of a personal importance and interest of Dr Alam as she has 5 children of her own.

Amongst her NHS work she has written articles for online women’s magazine and been involved in delivering teaching sessions to raise awareness of important health issues to ethnic communities.

She also has been co-director and supervising trainer of the Heartstart scheme, a not-for-profit organisation whose objective is to equip the public with skills to deal with emergency situations such as CPR, choking etc.

Dr Alam is fully aware of the demands and pressures of working women trying to achieve work-life balance. She therefore strongly believes in delivering patient centred care with unpressured time constraints.
